homeopathy

a gentle alternative approach to healthcare

Why homeopathy?

Individuality...

Why is it that even though the common cold virus may be all around us, only some of us 'catch a cold'?... Then each of us that does 'catch a cold' show different symptoms - for example some of us have a runny nose, others have a blocked nose.  Why is it that when frightened by something some of us might go 'weak at the knees and feel frozen to the spot'... yet others may 'feel very strong and get the urge to run'?

These different responses occur because each of us is an individual and as such we each react or respond in our own unique way to illness.

A healthcare system for individuals...

Homeopathy is a system of holistic healthcare which takes account of your individuality.  It acknowledges that mental and physical factors are fundamentally inter-connected in health and disease.  In homeopathic medicine, symptoms are a personal expression of the individual's OWN experience of ill-health.

In homeopathy, treatment is tailor-made to match the individual not the disease.  Homeopathic remedies are prescribed to treat the whole person and not just isolated symptoms.

What is Homeopathy and how does it work?

Developed over 200 years ago by a brilliant physician, it is a well-respected, safe and effective alternative method of treating all manner if chronic and acute complaints.

The body has an inherent ability to heal and maintain health.  Homeopathic treatment aims to stimulate the body's own healing power.

Homeopathic remedies (which are prepared by a specialized system of dilution) originate from a range of naturally occurring substances.  They act as a stimulus to increase the body's healing power and thus restore balance and a return to good health.

What can homeopathy treat?

Homeopathy can treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions such as:

  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Hormonal problems
  • Stress-related symptoms
  • Emotional issues
  • Joint pains
  • Skin problems
  • Migraines
  • ... and much more!

Is Homeopathy safe?

It is suitable for all age groups from the very young to the elderly.  Remedies act gently without side-effects. They will not interfere with any other treatments and can be complementary to conventional medical treatment.

What will the treatment be like?

Gail Andrews, your homeopath, understands that establishing good health involves treating mind and body so she will take time to listen to your emotional and physical symptoms.

In order to find the right remedy for you as an individual she will need a detailed understanding of who you are, along with any complaints and details of how you experience them.

This first consultation may take 1 -1½ hours.  The remedy is chosen after Gail has taken a thorough case history.  Your carefully selected remedy may be prescribed as tablets (sometimes just one single tablet) or a liquid which is administered in drops.

In addition to Gail's knowledge and considerable experience of nutrition enables her to advise you regarding dietary issues that may be of importance in your health care plan.  Consultations are confidential.

Continued care...

Follow-up consultations are important in order to assess the reaction to the prescribed remedy and to plan future treatment protocols.  Often successful homeopathic treatment requires a series of appointments depending on the type of illness and how long it has been established.

Whilst assessing your case, Gail is able to suggest referral to specialist therapies if appropriate.
